Okay.

I am living in Cambodia, but it is time to move on. I lived in Vietnam in 2005, but left because of all of the work permit issues.

I would like to go back to Vietnam and see the place again, but I also need to make some money.

Hypothetically - and all ethics aside - would it be possible for me to enter Vietnam on a tourist visa, get a teaching job for three months and then exit the country and enter again (to do it all over)?

In other words, are there schools in Saigon who would hire me on for three months if I explain to them the situation? Are there schools who are willing to play the game?

I am not really a huge fan of the Viets, and it would not be the end of the world if I got deported. If I did I would go back to Cambodia or Laos.

I guess my real question is : are there some schools who are willing to be flexible?

3 month contracts are very common place as no WP is required and in fact, some language mills will be happy to not sign a contract at all.

The Visa thing is not very certain these days (depends a lot on knowing the right people and paying off the right people) but not absolutely impossible.

The WP issue was a piece of cake then, If this upset you then - you're going to overwhelmed now!

Give Laos a shot.

OMG is right.

If you left in 2005 because of the WP problems, now is much more complicated (worse).

2005 was not even as bad as it has become.

Why are you leaving Cambodia, if you don't mind me asking?

Riding One,

Cambodia is an absolute dead end.

The schools are paying less and demanding more. There are less jobs to go around.

I am sick of the rampant materialism, rising cost of living, lack of intellectual life, corruption, etc.

I have learned a lot here, but it is time to move on.

Maybe off to retreat into a monastery in Laos or Thailand to renounce the material world for a while and search for something higher.
