Hi, Does anyone know if it is still possible to get into the NET program in Hong Kong. I saw the post on Teach Away and it indicates that it is still accepting application.

It is probably possible to apply at any time, however how long it will take from application to acceptance to getting a job is another question!
Most schools are in the process of appointing NETs at the moment from the pool of candidates already accepted and serving NETs who are changing schools. Contracts usually start from 16th August but there are always some schools who needs NETs at other times due to a variety of circumstances.

NET is a train wreck! Nothing like Japan's superb JET Programme, with its professionalism, definite timelines/deadlines, respectfulness, etc., etc. Expect(if you apply to NET-with or without a recruiter) BS, confusion, cost, time consuming nonsense, and...if you make it to an interview, the rudest experience of your life.

Now, in the interests of disclosure, I should say I've never taught in HK(I DO have a decade's experience of EFL in E. Asia). I've spent 4 days of my life in HK. I've heard(3rd hand) that NET pays well but has an incredible BS/hassle factor via working for them. In any event, I've heard that doing EFL in HK is a lose-lose proposition...at least if you don't have a teaching license from one's home country.

Razorhideki you seem to be able to sum up the situation pretty accurately for many NETS. The NET Scheme is a big gamble, and if you don't get a 'good' school, it can become a complete nightmare. Anybody applying needs to take an 'eyes wide open' approach and gather as much information from those already there working on the scheme.
A good place to start asking questions is hkpnets.org
