I have just completed the TESOL foundation course and my wife, Heather, is going to take it in a month or so. She has a degree. We have a 3 year old daughter (adopted from Guangzhou) and we are looking to teach in China approx February next year. We would like to correspond with any other couples that have done the same journey that we intend to embark on. We have some questions about adjusting to life in China and if anyone has managed to get placed in the same school as their partner. Also interested to know how their children have adapted to life in China. And any tips/things to avoid/things to bring etc. Would love to hear from you. Thanks for your help. Cheers Rob |

Hi Rob
My husband and I have been placed at the same school. Wasn't very difficult to find a job together. Private schools like couples because it generally reduces the living costs they have to pay.
Sorry can't help on the children side of it though. I would say you do need to look into the bigger cities though. We're in a relatively small city and I don't know of any kind of day care facilities for English speaking children. We very rarely come across Chinese people who can speak English where we are so would be a bit difficult. |
