What kind of contest?
Is it just something within the school or something larger?

I went to a regional competition last year for JH. One of my students spoke about how her homestay in America has made her a better person and other spoke about the problems and bullying caused by cellphones in school.

Manyof the speeches were far from simple. There was a girl who did a thought provoking speech about her fight with anorexia. There was a boy who talked about how he wished he could turn back time to a huge fight he had with his grandmother because she forgot it shortly after and later him; he didn't know she had Alzheimer's so he never had a chance to apologise.
I think first place went to a girl whose speech was called "My interesting little hobby" which was the most disturbing thing I'd heard in a long time... she basically went to the mall, picked out an interesting looking person and stalked them, then might go back to the mall and do everything that the person had done. As she continued I went from Laughing to Confused and finally Shocked Shocked Shocked!!
