Hello All,
I recently asked a question on another thread where someone made mention of this issue, but didn't receive any responses and so am starting a new thread. Hope that's ok.
There is an item on the medical exam form about vericose veins and there is an asterisk in front of it (and in front of hernia as well) and nothing indicating what the asterisks refer to.

Near the bottom of the form, is the following statement:

It would seem to me that if my doctor were to write a letter stating that a vericose vein or two (all that I have) would not interfere with my ability to teach, that I would be in the clear.
Can anyone tell me if they have any knowledge of a visa application being rejected because of vericose veins???

I have never heard of varicose veins being a problem in getting medical clearance. Neither have any of the colleagues I asked about this. |

I've had colleagues in Saudi Arabia who anyone with a pair of eyes - let alone a trained doctor - could see were unfit to work. And yet they managed to get the all-clear from the medical test. I guess that's because doctors are relucant to upset or offend their clients in order to do the right thing by some employer in far off Saudi Arabia. So long as you don't test positive on any of the infectious diseases which are tested for, you should be fine. |

I know this thread should just die out...and eventually it will, but I am also certain you need not worry about this...seems ridiculous that such a condition would hinder one's ability to do one's job. There is enough to worry about  withoiut adding this to the list! carry on:) |

You are right. This absolutely seems ridiculous. But if there is one thing I have learned during the short time I have been researching life in KSA, it is that 'ridiculous' and 'reality' frequently intersect. I am therefore becoming very cautious . . . |
