Hello Everyone,
I interviewed with a company a little more than 2 weeks ago. I was told I would be contacted in about 2 weeks but they have not contacted me yet. I emailed them about five days ago but still no response. Should I email them again for an update or should I wait for their response? What is the ettiquite in the market? |

Wait. Probably for months. It is a training in the patience you will need if you ever get to the Shangri-La of KSA. |

Dear NCTBA,
I'm not so sure. I spent what seemed like centuries there, but I got only a little older.
Regards,

This kind of delay is very normal for institutions in KSA and in the Gulf in general. Do not keep calling them as by their standards you will seem impatient. If they are going to call you, it will be at the last possible moment, once you have completely given up on the job and decided to move on to other offers.
If you can't handle this, you probably cannot handle working in KSA. This is just the beginning of the frustration. |

Does that mean they won't mind if I (or any other foreign worker) takes a while to decide or reply? |

Are you under the impression that when applying for a job the two sides are equal? Not true anywhere in the world that I have lived.
VS
(of course you can take all the time that you want to decide, but there is not guarantee that the job will still be there when you decide to say yes.) |

I take your point, VS!
That being said, work ethics and practises do differ from country to country. What's normal in the US may be considered eccentric in France. Just trying to get a feel for the culture, so your feedback is appreciated. |
