In the Middle East are these documents worth anything?

In the states there is great despise for these degrees in that many are products of "check" schools where the student simply "writes" the check and then gets the credit.
I still remember one of my graduate professor unaffectionately refer to the University of LaVerne program as the "Laverne and Shirley" program after a tv show with the same name.
So, do these degrees actually carry weight over here?

Just curious.

For the record none of my Masters ("ABD" PhD) or degrees or teaching certificates are correspondence types.

"Correspondence" degrees are a thing of the past... back when we used snail mail. Laughing Some places offer distance degrees with summers on campus, but it is done online these days.

Distance or online degrees completely depend on the accreditation of the institution who provides them. There can be problems with all of them in some countries. Countries seem to have lists (somewhere... not available to us) of recognized colleges and universities.

One accredited distance university I like is Excelsior College out of New York State. They used to be Regents College, part of the State Univ of New York System but then became an independent college, but still accredited. They are non-profit, not to be confused with the disreputable for-profit schools. They offer several master's degrees as well. My ex-wife received her bachelor's from them through distance exams (proctored by HCT and subsequently Petroleum institute faculty in the UAE) and the degree has served her very well in the US.
