My residence permit is expiring next week, so I have decided it's time to do a Mongolia Visa run. There is a lot of information out there about getting exit stamps, but that is not what in interested in.

I want to go to Mongolia to get a 3 month tourist visa, as my contract negotiations with the last school fell apart at the last minute, so I have no other choice at the momento.. So I would like to hear from some people who have done a Mongolia visa run recently (this year or last year), give me the good , the bad, the ugly about the whole process ?

You don't need to leave the country to go from a RP to an L visa. Your local PSB can handle it. They might ask to see some money in the bank to get a 90 day.

You will have to leave the country to go from the L back to a Z then you can get your new RP.

I think you will be in a minority by going to Mongolia, most people go to HK or Korea. I would also be interested in how things work out so keep us updated.

Im a little short of the 20k mark, ill have enough when I get my last pay-check, which is about 10 days after my visa expires. I think traveling to Mongolia would be alot more interesting, and alot more fun than milling about in hongkong.
