Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out how recruitment process works in Saudi. I had my interview with a university - jubail University College- and they said they would recommend me for the position to the Royal Commision and the Commision would contact me to send the contract and other things etc. It has been almost two months and no news. The people in the school where I am going to teach said it would take some time. Has anyone gone through this process of long waiting? Should I give it up or wait a bit longer?

It is not surprising for things to work like this. Many people are offered, even promised, jobs in KSA, only to find that they hear nothing for weeks or months thereafter. Then, at the very last possible moment, when you have given up entirely and are looking for other jobs, they will contact you telling you to come immediately, and act as though there is nothing odd about making you wait all that time without any communication. In some cases, you never hear from them again, but in most cases they are just processing your papers and don't think to keep you apprised of the process.

You can call or e-mail them once or twice, but if you do it too often, they will think you are being pushy by Saudi standards. If it is a really good offer, just call them politely to remind them how deeply interested you are in working for their fabulous institution in the beautiful country of Saudi Arabia Laughing

Thanks Mia,

I think i will wait a bit longer. I don't know if it's possible i might not hear from them again at all. I hope it is not since the school said the commission would contact me for sure. To my knowledge, I don't think calling the school helps and i have no idea how to contact the commision.

I interviewed with Jubail Industrial College by Skype back in early March, and the following week they told me to expect a job offer from the Royal Commission in another week. Haven't heard from JIC or the RC since.

Thanks dude:-)

That's kind of comforting to know that i am not the only one and probably the papers are still sitting at someone's desk to be dealt with. Very Happy

As Mia said they are very likely to contact us the very last minute. Oh well, let's wait and see. The package is good and i really don't want to lose this opportunity.

I'm not too sure but I believe that it is written on the application form that if you don't hear back in 2 weeks then either its rejected or you have to follow up with them. The things apart from being on the road move at a snail's speed. Esp - within the government and big organization. The Mantra here is tomorrow never dies Wink When it comes to locals they dont have any patience level and want everything they desire to be delivered now! But when it comes to delivering it to expats, they are behind snail (Sad but True)
Try to call the coordinator and start bugging them on alternate day basis to get a concrete answer.

I'm not asking about the application stage. I had my skype interview and the school offered me the job. The school said it could take long. No mentioning of any two week or anyhing like that.

My gut feeling is that they WILL call you back, but it will be very late by your standards. If it sounds like a good job, just wait patiently. Jubail is not a great place, but parts of it are nice and it could be worth the wait.

CALL them, the academic year has finished and all administrative staff are completing tasks and winding down!!!!!!!!!!!Give them a call and ask if its in process, what time scale you should expect and who is dealing with the processing of applications. You may find that they have gone on an early holiday and will be back some time before August when Ramadan will start...this will definitely impact on when you will hear from them.
Get calling right away!!!!!!!But be friendly and polite.
Good luck. Very Happy
