Hello:
Well, my last visa paperwork is getting processed, and it seems that within a few weeks (maybe less) I should be all ready with my flight to KSA
My question is, I was given the choice of choosing between flying into Jeddah International Airport or Taif Regional Airport. I do not really like the idea of having some driver, drive me and my family of 4 for 2 hours to get to Taif, but than I am not quite sure how bad flight service is from Jeddah to Taif is.
If anyone has traveled between these two cities can you advise me what on has worked best for you, driving or flying to get to Taif? (you can even compare other international or regional airports in KSA, it does not have to specific to these )
Thanks
UmmKhadija

Well, I gues there is no direct international flight to Taif, so the only option is to transit through Jeddah.
My advice to you is to avoid travelling by car from jeddah to Taif, especially in hot weather, you children will be barbecued and you will suffer, especially as the rest/break facilities are not that good as you imagine in USA or UK.
Also most of the Taxis drivers are not insured against accidents, and some have their air-conditioning not working properly, and the road is not safe!
I used to drive between Abha and Jeddah through Taif, and believe me it is not an easy ride, some sections of the road iare very narrow with dangerous zigzags, and only Kamikazes can drive in this conditions!
So, give priority to the safety of your children and give them the pleasure to flight from Jeddah to Taif. |

There is also the problem of getting you, your family, and your LUGGAGE to Taif. Chances are you will need three taxis if they are only regular-sized cars. It will cost a lot, and as 007 points out, it can be risky. I'd take the local airport option if I were you. |

Fly to Taif. Jeddah to Taif is a short flight. Then journey by road is .......................................... worse than any nightmare you can imagine. |
