Hello all. I'm an American currently working as an Esl teacher in Korea. My contract runs out mid-October and I've tapped out Korea. I would like to know the process for Americans seeking to get work as Esl teachers in China from a third country (Korea). Any accurate and real information would be greatly appreciated.

It is much easier to get a Chinese visa than a Korean one (no CBC, no interview, just need a physical which you can get in ROK for about W180,000).
You can start sending out CV's and letters of interest whenever and they'll take things from there.

Macho's right...

180,000 won is exactly what it cost me 2 weeks ago at Yonsei Severance Hospital in Seoul. You can get the results within 5 days (they called me 2 days later to say they were finished).

Other than that probably just copies of your degrees and regular basic stuff.

Shanghai surprise, how did you go about applying for a working visa from South Korea? I cannot find anyone to do it for me. Sad

To be honest, my school did everything for me.

I just sent them the documents they asked for, and they're doing all the rest.

Sorry that I can't offer any more info. Won't your school do it for you?

All you need to do is find a school and let them take care of it.

May I suggest Beijing, Shanghai, etc.?

Pay is way better... don't accept a low salary, and don't be conned into the "China is cheap" line. China is the same now as Korea for most goods!

The hardest part is when you go through kimchi withdrawal. You need to come off it slowly . On the first day you just have kimchi for breakfast and supper on the second day just have it for breakfast. It is good to have a kimchi support group to help you get through the tough times when you see red on all your food. Don't give up many of us have been able to get over kimchi madness

Please tell me this doesn't apply to Z visas.
