Hi, I want to change about 500 yuan to Indian rupees.

I think I'll have to change the yuan to US $ first, then to rupees. I'll arrive in India with all Chinese money and the rates are horrible at arrival; they also demand only $100 to change. How, where in China to change a few yuan to a few $ to a few IC (rupees) ?

I went to a shop that sells magazines on the corner outside my hotel. i cahnged Japanese yen into Chinese yuan. The magazines looked a bit old like they weren't the latest. I don't know if you can find the same place on my descritption though. Confused

I'm now in Shijiazhuang, and I might be able to change to US$. The Indian rupee part I do not know where. PEK airport?

It is not legal to take Indian Rupees out of India, so you would have difficulty buying them legitimately anywhere.
Just bring the 500 Yuan with you; you will be able to change them to rupees in India. At any rate, it's not a whole lot of money, so I'm assuming you have more in some other form - just use that. If you can't or don't want to take the Yuan with you, then buy dollars, which are easiest to exchange here.
