|

Hi, I want to change about 500 yuan to Indian rupees.
I think I'll have to change the yuan to US $ first, then to rupees. I'll arrive in India with all Chinese money and the rates are horrible at arrival; they also demand only $100 to change. How, where in China to change a few yuan to a few $ to a few IC (rupees) ?
Thank you. |

I went to a shop that sells magazines on the corner outside my hotel. i cahnged Japanese yen into Chinese yuan. The magazines looked a bit old like they weren't the latest. I don't know if you can find the same place on my descritption though. |

It is not legal to take Indian Rupees out of India, so you would have difficulty buying them legitimately anywhere.
Just bring the 500 Yuan with you; you will be able to change them to rupees in India. At any rate, it's not a whole lot of money, so I'm assuming you have more in some other form - just use that. If you can't or don't want to take the Yuan with you, then buy dollars, which are easiest to exchange here. |
