Hardly... he was a newspaperman who ran afoul of the government... and he was hung by a mob. Attaturk did not "kill... his Great Grandfather."

Perhaps... but if one looks at the history of this ferry trip, you will see that they dangerously overload these boats and they are filled with mostly manual laborers for most of the year (and pilgrims during the Haj). One of those "cultural adventure trips" that might be interesting... once... if you are male. 
But at least it will be much faster...

If you're into archeology, Petra's right next door in Jordan, with Wadi Rum and Aqaba close by.
