|

So, what is a vacation schedule like for college, technical, and
the university TEFL? Does it vary contract to contract, or are
there hard and fast rules, normal vacation times? Compared
to S. Korea, high school teachers get a month off in January
and a month off in summer. Colleges and Univs obviously
get much more, but there are more BA's here and more
private academies and public/private schools
Where do teachers go for vacation? Any favorite, trendy spots?
Africa? Europe? Indian Ocean islands? I could assume
the airfare is cheap? Any takers to these q? MP |

60ish days (not counting national/Muslim holidays). You can either take one big summer break or shorten your summer break and take off during the winter--there are a few weeks in between semesters, but you've got to use your annual leave to enjoy those weeks off.
Popular destinations? Lebanon, Jordan... Thailand is hugely popular. I've visited Lebanon and Jordan here, but my personal preference is Europe.

Also popular are Egypt, Turkey, India, and Sri Lanka.
Normal summer leave time is within June to August. I believe that during the weeks between semesters, they will only use some of the 60 days if you leave the country. (likely depends on employer)
Religious holidays move through our calendar because they are set by the Islamic calendar. There are two Eid holidays that last from 4-10 days depending on what day they start and how generous the government is feeling. Right now, Ramadhan is moving into summer, so the Eid at the end will come at the start of the semester, and the second Eid comes about 70 days later after the Haj.
