Hey everyone,
I am going to teach English at TED Mersin College in a couple of months.
I am completely new to teaching (have a BA & TESOL certificate but have never taught before), nor have I been to Turkey.
I have a slew of questions, but I'm going to start simply with...has anyone been to Mersin? (the city, or the school). I'd love to get some background/advice in advance from fellow teachers/travellers!
Thanks so much! Smile
Devin

Mersin is a nice place to live, I live about 40 minutes down the road in Adana.
Ted Mersin is a bit out of the centre, Mersin is cheaper then most cities and there is a huge shopping centre and ok bars and restaurants. Don't know anything about the school only that it is out of the city.

I used to live in Gaziantep, and had the opportunity to travel through Mersin and even stay there for a weekend. It seemed like a nice place to live being that it is on the sea (although the sea is much nicer further north). My girlfriend and I stayed a couple of nights at the Mersin Hilton, and enjoyed drinks and music at several nearby clubs.
One thing you must do is take a daytime bus from Mersin to Alanya. The coastline is exquisite.

A couple of nights at the hilton will be your month`s salary.
