Has anyone here ever done the speed boat and inner tube down the Mekong river? I'm also wondering if it's possible to leave on these tours from Chang Mai or should I leave from Bangkok?
I'm interested in traveling from Thailand to Laos and then into Cambodia this way and then find my way into Phenom Pen. Is this possible by way of the river / river travel?
Anyone here who's done this trip that can offer info on how to do it would be much appreciated! |

to get you started.....plenty of travel agents in chiang mai will sell you
a package. minivan to chiang khong, ferry across to huay xai, and
either the two-day slow boat to luang prabang with overnight in pakbeng,
or the 8-hour speedboat.
or you could take an overnight bus to chiang mai, then a green bus
(6:30, 8:30 departures) to chiang khong. easy enough to book your
choice of water transport in huay xai.
not aware of any organized tours south of luang prabang. best to
try the LP forum.
