|
|
They just passed new visa laws where I am, making visas even more tedious, expensive and time consuming to get. I've heard that Japan is flooded with teachers, any signs of the job market picking up in a year or two? I hvae 8 years experience, five of those at three different unis, and one MA under my belt and should have another in a couple of years.
On another note, is it easy to get spouses and children visas?
Thanks so much |

"Easy" to get a spouse or child's visa? Pretty much. Certain nationalities may have issues. Otherwise, a spouse visa (married to a Japanese, that is) requires some simple paperwork. Child's visa (dependent visa) is equally simplistic.
As for the job market picking up, who can say what will happen in a month let alone the next 2 years? |

If the person is currently in Korea maybe they are not Japanese or married to Japanese citizen.
They might have simply meant: Is it easy to get a visa for their spouse and children?
That would mean Dependants visa all rouund, yes? |

I wouldn't be too pessimistic about the industry. There are some companies that are going out of business like GEOS, but the slack is being picked up by numerous others who are taking advantage and expanding quite a bit. |

Yes, dependent visas. Not married to a Japanese. |

It isn't difficult to get dependents' visas for one's spouse and children, but what would be difficult is supporting a spouse and child/children on the average English teaching salary in Japan these days.
People on dependent visas can only work up to 20 hours a week and they have to apply for permission to do so first from Immigration- permission to work doesn't automatically come with the visa. |

Maybe I-m better off staying where I am, though the fact that my husband could work legally might help. |
