Has anyone worked for this company? They seemed legit enough but I had a slightly dubious experience with someone in their HR department, and now I am unsure what to think. They were advertising for jobs in several SEA countries. I sent in my CV with my country of choice clearly outlined in both my subject header and application letter. I received a reply from an HR member clearly ignoring my stated preference and asking me a series of questions that I had answered in my initial letter. I realise it is not fair to judge a company based on the incompetence of one employee, so I am hoping to get some feedback on the company. Thanks very much. |

I have not worked for that company, but I have a couple of suggestions given my 15 years of working in Asia.
If you want a job:
1. Watch the attitude.
Labeling someone as incompetent simply because they ask questions is one way to label yourself as a trouble-maker.
I myself have interviewed many people, and I ALWAYS ask them to state their qualifications even if they have them written in the resume sitting in front of me. It is NOT a show of incompetence.
Perhaps they cheated on their resume, i.e., copied it off the internet? Can their understanding of their own supposed qualifications stand up under questioning? How well do they stand up under questioning? If a bad attitude comes through in the interview process, we sure won't hire.
2. Be flexible.
Maybe they don't have an opening at your favored location. Maybe they are checking to see if you are open (~flexible) to another location. Again, don't label this as incompetence.
If you want a job in Asia, you have to learn to be flexible, and watch the attitude. It does come across in both written and verbal form.
BTW, I just signed a contract extension today for another year, with a 5% pay increase. Life looks good going into Year #16! |

Aren't they just a recruitment agency that sends you to a partner school in some part of the world?
Try to contact schools directly. |

Thanks for your reply WI. I'm not sure to be honest, as aside from their courses, I couldn't find info on their recruitment section. I guess that fact in itself could prove illuminating. I'll trust my gut. It doesn't usually steer me in the wrong direction. Take care. |
