There was a thread on Fuzhou not so long ago here. Searching for it should give you the information you want, if you catch my drift.
I recently passed through the area for a short time, and it's hard to comment too much on the city -- but generally, the layout is good, very modern, traffic flows nice, lots of Taiwanese influence, the new high-speed train runs through it, the climate is nice in winter, and supposedly it's a great city for high-quality education and reputable schools. I would hedge a bet that it is indeed the case, as we seldom hear much from Fuzhou on this board. This suggests that the teachers living there are indeed happy, busy and contented with their situation.
One of the few drawbacks I can think of is the airport is too far away from downtown (50-60km away) and not very well-connected to the city. To my knowledge, you only have insufficient buses and ripoff taxis. As well, the airport is lousy for international flights. With the high-speed train, you're probably better off using other airports, perhaps Xiamen as it's only 2 hours away. |
