I've seen that they are still advertising for placements starting this September which really is last minute!
I haven't seen much positive about them. Lots of complaints about pay and lack of support, but thankfully nothing about being cheated out a visa. And yes, the most recent report was of a guy working for a year up to Aug 2009, which may seem like almost a year ago, but unless the entire management staff has changed in the last 12 months, then complaints such as these (which mimic a lot of what I have read in even older posts) are probably still valid: [link deleted]
Did they give you a definate salary figure? I saw an advert for an ALT Coordinator who had business level Japanese plus 3 years ALT experience in ES or JH that was only offering 230,000~260,000... some how I doubt they ever offer the full 250,000 to a lowly new recruit ALT when the lower end of salary seems to 190,000 (not 200,000 as suggested on their site) if their ad for ALTs for April just gone is anything to go by. And they don't mention holiday pay, so have they told you the details about that, or is the offer of holiday employment a trade off for not paying when school is out?

EDIT (then decided to move the edit to a new response): Nothing about being cheated out of a visa, but... (copy and pasted blog from March 2009 and now slightly edited):
So of course things have been proceeding far too easily with the move to Japan, right, and fate decided I needed a nice kick in the ass. Apparently immigration needed a new photo of me because their original got marked. So they sent a request to *** asking for it. Only it never arrived in ***'s mail. So [name] is simply going to wait a week until I'm in the country to send it and get the certificate all processed so I don't pass said certificate on the plane as it goes West and I go East.
This all means that I have to enter Japan as a tourist and show no intent to work. Which is going to be really easy, I'm sure, when I show up with my two biggest suitcases and a bed roll in tow ("What? Live here? No, no, I just wear a lot of clothes!" 8D). (No, I'm not actually bringing a bed roll.) It also means that I have to actually buy a return ticket for within 3 months of my arrival date, and then cancel it or something.
I love complications! Please, sir, may I have some more?
...so no COE because some idiot up at immigration drew a moustache on their pic for giggles and the JP postal service is so unreliable that important immigration marked letters/cards just go missing and obviously immigration would never think to call them if they actually did screw up... so apparently they don't mind lying about why they don't apply for the COE in advance. Haven't smelt that much BS since I last stood in a field full of masticating cows on a warm summer day. |

Uncalled for. Pictures could get marked up in any number of ways. You are talking about deliberate actions that cannot be proven. |

It was a joke, Glenski.
Did you not read/understand from the bit after that I thought that the story the company told the blogger about the photo was a total fabrication? |
