I am preparing to teach in Latin America and would like to know if I should bring any particular documents for when I apply for jobs.

Below are some docs that I can think of, but I am not sure if they are all necessary. I also plan on scanning everything on my computer just in case.

-Copy of Birth Cert
-Copy of BA Degree
-University Transcript (Official or Unofficial?)
-Police Record

Responses do not have to be limited to just what documents to bring. Please feel free to post comments about anything that you would recommend on bringing while teaching in LA. I will be in Colombia, Ecuador, and possibly other countries further South.

Thanks

Police record won't be needed unless you're working with kids. And even then , it'll have to be recent., like the past six months, and legalised, notarised, and apostillised.

Official transcripts.

You might want to bring ORIGINALS of your Birth cert and BA degree.

Don't forget photos, you'll need a lot of carnet / passport sized photos.

And your CV.

Then the misc stuff like photos from home, laptop, clothes, etc.

Never been asked for the criminal record. Bring originals of transcripts and BA and other certs. Get the BA apostilled. Honestly, my biggest regret is that I didn't bring enough books in English, perhaps some DVDs too. YMMV

You can get DVDs in LA, no prob. Books are an issue, but try to set up a book swap. I did and read a couple of books a month, for free. You can also download them.
