Are there any newbies or ESL teachers moving to Busan in the next few weeks. I am interested in finding someone to scavenger the city with that is new to it as well. I am from Florida and will be coming over the end of this month Lord willing. Please let me know if you are interested...also anyone who has yet to find a school yet, I've done my homework and the school I'm going to is owned by an international company so I am assuming it's reputable. Also they have housing avalible right near Haeyudae Beach that was recently built in the last year as is fairly new Laughing .Write here if you are interested in a spot or sightseeing around town.
Cynthia

But Scot, she can't psot there yet. However, cynthialynn, you should avoid posting here primarily because discussion about Korea should take place elsewhere. Until you can post there I suggest you search the Korean forum. You will be overwhelmed with info on Busan. Once you've read it, you'll be able to post there anyway Wink

Is it Pusan or Busan. Are both accepted because Koreans, like Arabs have problems with /p/ and/b/?

They use Busan and Pusan equally. The Korean language doesn't discriminate between the letters P/B. Same goes for L/R.

Korean does discriminate between P and B, but some linguists who romanized the names of the Korean cities a while back were hard of hearing, apparently. Recently the government decided to redo all of the romanizations of city names, but this does lead to confusion after many years of having spelled them one way. (Taegu became Daegu, Cheju became Jeju, Kyoung-ju became Gyoung-ju, etc.)

there is an entire thread devoted to this under General Discussion on the Korean forum if you are desperate.

They have had a general election in the last 24 hours. What happened? Nothing. Business as usual. Just like Britain Wink
