Can anyone put me in touch with someone, i.e., people who do the hiring? E-mail addresses?

Hola!

Most hiring in Mexico is done on the ground. Few schools (except shady language schools) are willing to even consider somebody unless they are already in Mexico.

An exception to that would be the private international high schools. They do recruit certified teachers. As in actually certified to teach in the US, not TEFL "certified".

Bueno suerte!

Thank you. I would like to have a contact, though, before I show up; just to get an idea of what I'm in for.

Tell us something about yourself.

Hard to make any suggestions without any info.

Also Mexico is a big country. Where do you want to work?

Rural or City?

Chiapas or DF?

Teaching in a language school or in a colegio or a uni? Business English is also an option in the cities, esp. Mexico City.

As Prof Gringo said, it is highly unlikely that you will get a job without being in Mexico UNLESS you have a degree, and are a certified teacher in your home country. It is, however, easy to get a job, especially in the larger cities. For general information you might want to contact the bigger schools like Interlengua, Harmon Hall, Quick Learning, Anglo, etc. They might send you info on salary etc., but none of them will even schedule you for an interview unless you are here. Also, it really isn't that hard to find that information yourself by doing a Google search..........

Many of those language schools pay about $40-60 pesos an hour. Quick Learning seems to have a good salary, if you like working from 6AM-10PM with a 2 hour break for lunch and another 8-10 hours on Saturday.
