Anyone have any experiences in Belarus? Is it a good place for conversational english instructors? I'd assume there would be a demand with the Russian influence, and lack of english speakers there. |

I would think the hardest part of teaching in Belarus is finding people with the cash to pay for conversation classes. However, it's been a few years since I was there so perhaps their fortunes have changed.
Brest is nice, and not just the name. |

Anyone here actually got a little more to say about working in Belarus?
I'm going there in 2 months. All my permits and job are sorted so I'm just waiting for the flight. |

It depends upon which organisation you are working for. IH Minsk pays reasonably, most other places don't. |

I'm from Belarus. It is pretty difficult for me to judge about living in Belarus, but I know that it's a real trouble to find a private teacher from English spoken country here. For instance, 1 year ago I tried to find someone who would help me in preparation for IELTS - without positive result. At the end I was able to pass IELTS(6.5 overall score band), but in this year my wife will try to do the same. It seems to me that she will have the same problem. In this case I'm deeply convinced that everyone who goes to Belarus can have extra money due to private lessons. |

Hi Keleba
I came across some training material for EITLS that your wife may be interested in. When I taught in Russia I used it with several students, one who cracked an 8.5. You can find a link on my blog http://pangaea901.wordpress.com/language-learning/
Best wishes to you and your wife.
Gondwana
PS: My wife and family are from Belarus but from many years ago, just after Chernobyl. |

Well IHworld are advertising for a position in Minsk. Looks like I won't be the only one turning up in Minsk in the next 2-3 weeks.
Anyone applying for Minsk? |
