Anyone got any info about the BAE Systems (English Teacher, Saudi Arabia) Interview and Medical in Preston, UK? I have been offered this in this week and I am wondering if any one works for BAE in Saudi Arabia or can give me some tips.Or if some 1 could send me a private message.
Thank you |

Could be lots of money, but the exchange is low. Saudi cadets are somewhat dull and unmotivated. Mostly a babysitting job. You'll spend most of your time trying to keep the cadets awake. |

The buildings at King Faisal Air Academy are surprisingly modern and kept in good shape and there is actually air conditioning. Air Force management is rather incompetent and BAE management does their bidding. Any expat can be sacked at any time for any reason. The compound is only a couple of years old, but it is far outside the city past many kilometers of camel farms. Last year accomodation had to be shared and there was a long list for single accomodation. Don't know if that has changed. |

Are you suggesting that previous housing did not have AC? I would be raiding those camel farms for an escape across the border...

No, I was referring to the school's buildings on the airbase. The airbase is 30 minutes from the compound. Don't know about previous housing, but the ac at the compound is adequate. |

I heard from BAE in the interview that it is a new compound called SARA compound!!! I will be based in Dhahran not in Riyadh.
Has any one been on that compound? And we don't have to share the accommodation..... |

Are you saying that there are employers in Saudi where the teaching facilities are NOT air conditioned? It was bad enough in Cairo when ours would sometimes die or there would be power cuts... and it is not nearly as hot there.

Oh...puleeze! Riyadh AB is storied over how the RSAF view the foreign workers there. I remember in the middle of summer the wing commander ordering all of the AC turned off in our terminal-turned-school except for the offices that the saudis occupied. Our BAe overlord was only happy to comply as his office had a saudi sergeant posted in it. This was a metal building.
I wuz due for an operation and, in preparation, had my doctor had to get my high blood pressure down. He's put me on one medication and waited a week...no good...he'd try another medication and wait a week...still no good...he scratched his head and poured over my records to see if there was a drug interaction problem...nope, there wasn't any...he scratched his head. That's when I ventured "Do you think that NOT having AC in the building could contribute to my high blood pressure"?
He was appalled as temps were usually in the 120s at that time of year. He called the hospital director who called the base's commanding general.
AC was, gratefully, turned on whilst humans were on premises... I'm sure KFAA, across the runway, wasn't much different. We were resented for the wages that we EARNED!
