So I've got a ticket to Poland arriving August 31st (this date may be adjusted), and I'm planning on hitting the streets looking for work in two cities or so.
This will be my first time in Poland, and I don't understand housing contracts there. Do they only begin the first of each month? I'd rather aviod living nowhere and everywhere for the full month of September because housing is only available on October 1st.
I guess I'm just wondering how newbies like me handle housing in the fall. I couldn't find a current, clear answer searching posts here.
Also, if I plan on leaving after the school year ends in May/June 2011, will I still be locked into a 12-month housing contract?
Many thanks! |

Housing contracts are flexible enough. If the landlord/lady wants someone in the flat, then you tell them when you want to move in - not the other way around (I speak as an ex-tenant and current landlord).
Obviously you'll make sure you understand the contract you sign (or have an English copy to sign as well - standard pro formas exist for downloading from the net). If you can, only sign for six months. That way, you can easily extend it by a few months, if necessary.
Check out www.gumtree.pl (for example) for accommodation.
Good luck and PM me if you need. |
