Hi all

September's coming up might quick and I've left it a bit late to look into health matters. Surprisingly, I can't see anything in previous posts. So, could someone please give me the lowdown on:

* What are (legally) essential innoculations for entry (i.e. no proof of innoculation on arrival = a trip back home)?

* What are essential innoculations for Oman (in terms of risk, common sense etc)?

* What are advisable (i.e. extra) innoculations?

Bearing in mind that I shall be carrying a UK passport and arriving from Poland (i.e. a low-risk country for most, if not all, diseases) after five years' living there.

Thanks.

Hiya,

I'm also a UK passport holder and consulted my GP before leaving for Oman and was told that there was no need for any innoculations. After living in Oman, I can confirm that there's really no need for anything and I haven't heard of anyone else needing to get any done either.

Lived there for years.... never got any and never needed any special. Of course you should have your tetanus up to date and many doctors now recommend hepatitis jabs for anyone who travels.

But neither of those have anything to do with Oman...

So that explains why there's no threads about innoculations!

Thanks very much.

Very Happy

No requirements, but for your own safety I recommend the standard shots such as twinrix and tetanus and any boosters you may need. Life in Oman in very nice and there is ample time and availability to travel elsewhere during your many holidays/vacations/Eids. It wouild be a shame to have an exotic somewhat spontaneous Eid holiday trip spoiled by not having basic travel shots. Shots are like passports .... don't let them expire?

Enjoy!

Cheers all.

'Just had my tetanus and Hep booster, with a course of rabies thrown in for good measure. The nurse didn't suggest anything else.

I mean, of course, that I was vaccinated against rabies, not actually given a dose of rabies. Even the Polish health service would consider that a little excessive ... I think. Wink

Thought maybe she bit you. Cool There are many feral dogs in Oman, but I haven't heard of any rabies. It is still a good idea though. If you travel on your breaks, there are certainly countries near Oman that may have the problem.
