In particular, paragraph 11.

Interesting article, but it really doesn't quite fit under our usual definition of plagiarism, does it? For instance, if one of my students (whose writing I would know) handed in one of these essays, I wouldn't accuse him of plagiarism... but of having the maid (or brother or whoever) write it and make him re-write it in front of me in my office. To me a "plagiarized paper" would at least have some of the students real writing in it. Laughing

I think this has been common for years, but the internet certainly facilitates connecting the writer to the student.

Yes very true VS.

I have my own personal paid sites that I can check papers handed in from just one sentence. You should see the look on their faces when I call them to my office and pull up the site that has exactly what they handed in to me.

They (Saudi students) are evolving because they are picking writings from other EFL learners that have been posted on line with the mistakes still in them. The funny part is when I show them that they seem to have exactly the same mistakes as the one on line.

I give them a warning of course and never see them trying this with me. I tell them that my colleagues have the same abilities as I do so they are totally afraid to do it twice.
