Hi all,

My experience has always been to legalize an employment contract in Indonesia, a signature must be made over a specific stamp, or materai.

An employer of my friend's is telling her this is no longer the case and the law has changed. I find this difficult to believe and am suspecting some ulterior motives at play. I've told her as such, but she is unable to counter the argument without some evidence.

Are any more knowledgable souls able to provide a link to the law stating this is/isn't required? Or has anyone experienced something similar?

Thanks

all my contracts still have them.

they sell them everywhere, so your friend should be able to pick one up quite easily. they only cost 6000rp. tell her to paste it on her copy of the contract and have the guy sign over it. it certainly cant make it null and void because it has a stamp on it.

Materai stamps are required to make a contract legal. The law has not changed. Make sure it has one and you sign on it.
