Hi,
I just moved to Matsumoto, and I was disappointed to find that my desktop computer was broken when I arrived (probably en route from Nagasaki). The postal company picked it up today and there is a chance that I may be covered for it...
Anyway, just in case they won`t sort it out, can anybody recommend a good computer repair service within Japan? I know very little about computers, but when I try to start up my computer, it doesn`t happen and I can just hear a ticking noise.
Thank for your help...

The hard drive is dead. The ticking noise is the read/write head snapping back to the default position as it tries to read the platter and gets no data.
You may well be covered for it under the postal insurance - it's often caused by the drive being dropped or shaken violently. However, it's usually a terminal problem, and I doubt the drive can be resurrected. |
