in Greece...in protest at my working conditions and general treatment...I got my mother to send out the most lurid bright orange addidas shellsuit top she could find....it duly arrived in the post and i wore it proudly to work thereafter...a symbol of fine late 80's Merseyside fashion....and an important lesson in UK culture to boot!!

I also taught in shorts..much to the dismay of my employer...but seeing as he was treating me like a disobediant dog and housing me in something resembling an indoor kennel.....I felt no guilt at my sloppy lackof dress sense and/or professionalism..

In Qatar...we've had UK male English teachers coming to work in Thobes/dishdashers/skull caps etc....and ladies coming to work in abayas..i.e clad head to toe in black.....all in support of the local fashion out here.....White and Black are THE in colours and have been so it appears for the last 500 years...
Any chance of a Green abaya/thobe ..anyone!!!

I work in a school of all male technicians. I enjoy showing off my style. Not looking trashy or anything. Just dressing up everyday. It throws them off and "What is Schminken wearing today?" has now become the standard question.

I have more pairs of cufflinks than many of you probably have books. And yes, I assume it's the more literate who post here.
Being tall and, well, stout, finding clothes that fit was always a problem. Thanks to the wonder of cheap Asian tailors, I can get exactly what I want, from pleats to french cuffs, and I enjoy dressing like a grown-up. Also, when doing business here, a flash of color from a pocket square doesn't hurt.
In nearly three years, I've avoided lots of the hassles from the public that so many foreigners in Korea mention on "that other site." I think looking like you know what you're doing (even if you don't) has been part of the reason.

Any attractive man looks good dressed up. Besides, I understand that Schminken may be a woman...? Shocked

Do I have to choose? Actually, a suit or a nice shirt and dress pants will do. Cool

I quit smoking 3 months ago...Nuff said. what is a wardrobe? All my clothes have shrunk. So it is M&S and anywhere with good quality, cheap and cheerful. Function not fashion.
