The plan is for providers to start offering the blended course in the second quarter of 2011. Note that the cost is expected to be about the same as the on-site course. |

CELTA or TRINITY Tesol only. Forget all the others.
Go and do it in Bali - minimal living costs and you get a chance to live on the Island of the Gods http://www.ialf.edu/
When on earth are you actually gonna be going anywhere? |

I gave my notice to the hagwon, but the principal begged for a 30 day extension, Korean immi is so strict this year it will take any new teacher 6-8 weeks just to get the Federal Government/FBI background check, apostille, etc. So I accepted for ONLY 30 more days. Not bad since we get a nice 6 day vacation end of Sept. for Korean thanksgiving.
So thats why I still havent left Korea, wailing. Would love to NOT at the moment do a 4 week program, but seeing as you and other experts in the region all agree it will make things much easier and provide better quality positions, I am trying to pick a good program and so asking these questions.
I assumed what you said, that CamCELTA and Trin TESOL are cream of the crop. Also wanted some insight as to whether the rest ar3e pretty much all scum or not in comparison. YOu have provided that insight, I thank you and everyone else for it, and will be choosing a program shortly as the Nov. dates are nearing rapidly.
That Bali site was for IELTS training, right? |

Here in Singapore it is not necessary to have a cert. However, you should have at least a degree and some experience. Teachers are allowed to teach higher levels of general English according to their exp and quals (Singapore MOE decides what levels you are allowed to teach). I am allowed to teach BEGINNER to ADVANCED. However, the character with an associates degree and one year exp may only be able to teach BEGINNER - ELEMENTARY. |
Sorry Mr Imam...
I'm interested to know what you mean.
Do you mean that the Singaporean MoE recruits ESL teachers or that they regulate what levels people can teach in the private system?
thanks |
