|
|
I have been trying to get private lessons in Moscow to supplement my income. I however, do not know how to go about getting them.
Is there a newspaper or a website that is particularly good for advertising?
Also, any tips on how best to market oneself, what is the Moscow market looking for?
I appreciate that this question is probably a little bit of a secret because there is only so many students too go around so I would be grateful for any help. Thanks in advance! |

aaah, i have read some more posts and discovered that the private tuition market has apparently dried up even for those with ongoing clients. |

I'm a bit suprised to hear that the private tuition market has dried up. Surely with 12M odd inhabitants it's not that dry! It may have dried up for some but networking with Russians, not ex-pats, is the key. Of course ex-pats can help but as is usually the case it's job's for the boys. Get in with all parties and it should lead to good results. That's what I found.

Not dried up at all for me. Too many students to fit into one week. In fact, I'm hoping to shed a few hours this academic year, as last year was exhausting.
Where did this idea of a dried-up market come from? |

You could try expat.ru. Register there and advertise. Don't know how successful it is-I live just outside Moscow and get all my private students locally. |

Word-of-mouth is the best, of course. But to get you started, have a look at www.study.ru
Used them a little to begin with. Got a few good clients too. Then things just snowballed. But that was a few years ago, don't know now. Think you have to pay a few hundred rubles to register. Russian language only.
www.expat.ru or www.redtape.ru are OK, but I have only ever got people who were slightly 'touched' and also wanted to be offered unrealistic discounts. Glad I didn't have to depend on them.
Best of luck to you. |

I have a waiting list. Just got another request 2 days ago. No need to advertise when you have a client base as word of mouth and references from your students to their friends, coworkers, etc....will more than keep you busy. |
