Perhaps HK is different though...could anyone else add to this? I would like to work there one day. |
As previously mentioned, most HK employers, especially in the education field, are obsessed with qualifications. So far as something like the NET programme goes, I'd say you have zero chance of getting on board without a first degree, and I reckon that would also apply to the big international schools. However, with plenty of relevant experience and a good higher degree perhaps some of the universities would be more lenient. |

Fair enough I suppose!
Kind of a shame, as most of my experience is more relevant to the NET program than for uni. Ah well I'm sure things will work out.
Thanks. |

Hello, I have no degree a TESOL and a year of uni credit points. In HK To be a recognized teacher you do need a degree, however there is work if you haven't got one, which I have done mainly in kindergartens and learning centers. Also I would advise you that it may be trickier finding work here. They do look for qualifications more than other countries, eg Thailand or China. |

Thanks for the reply.
Hmmmm I'm not really interested in skimming the bottom of the barrel. I would hope that there would be some decent work for someone with an MA TESOL, despite the lack of BA...
I don't mean any offense by 'skimming the bottom of the barrel', but that sounds like it would be the case for someone with a BA |

How about this scenario? I have 3 years EFL experience, a Bachelor of Econimcs degree (no education degree) and are currently doing a Master of TESOL. Could I find a decent job in HK with these credentials? |
