My friend and I are going to be in Chiang Mai come late July until the middle of August for an in-class tesol certification.
Is anyone going to be there around that time or is by chance doing the same program we are???
It's the American Tesol Institute's Chiang Mai three week program.
Looking forward to hearing from some of you! |

stellarsky627,
I'm going to be in Chiang Mai during that time and taking another TESOL training course, but I haven't arranged a place to stay yet. I'm looking for a furnished apartment for 1 month; would you happen to have any suggestions? I haven't been to Chiang Mai before but I've been to Thailand several times. Thanks in advance! |

Hey,
Unfortunately I have no suggestions whatsoever as I've never even BEEN to Thailand! What course are you taking? And what dates will you be in Chiang Mai?
We'll be staying at a hotel that is provided by the course, so sorry I can't be of more help! |

It was really great actually. The course is set at a place called Sinthana Resort, which is a little bit aways from things in the city but it's a SUPER cheap place. It costs about 35 baht a meal, which is 1 dollar and about 75 cents to travel anywhere in the city on these red trucks called song-thaw's if you have a lot of people.
The course itself was pretty good. I enjoyed learning how to teach students and it did actually get me MUCH more confident being in front of students. This was my first day teaching at my new job, and it went well. I think it was because of the exposure I already had in class.
Hopefully you have an instructor named Whitney. She's the most amazing person ever!! Super helpful. The other's name was Sangeeta and she was pretty good too.
I think the course is def worth it if you want to experience thailand and are willing to pay the high price. If you have any specific questions- let me know! |
