i'm teaching in mendoza, argentina right now and i have about 30 hours per week but at 2 different institutes. at one i make about 8 pesos an hour and the other one 12. right now the peso is 3 to 1 for americans and 2 to 1 for canadians, like me. all in all, i make enough to rent a pretty sweet apartment, eat, and go out on the weekends, but it's doubtful that you will be able to save any money here. you could save if you rent a cheaper apartment. anyways, hope this helps.
p.s. if you have any other questions, email me at [email protected]
cheers,

Hi,
Im in BA and the going rate is 13-15 pesos an hour. There will be some institutes which try less, but in general a native speaker should tell them to stick it. From what Ive heard, an experienced teacher made, before the crash, twenty to twenty-five pesos an hour. If things turn out well, Id expect that salary to come back.
You can reasonably live on 1000 pesos here, but 1300 is a more comfortable number -- say for travel.
