jeddah is better than riyadh because:

a. the mutawwa don't bother you in jeddah (a friend of mine was followed in his car in riyadh by a muttawa who suspected he was driving with an unrelated woman, it was his wife)
b. aside from the beaches and the diving, there is an island off the coast where people don't cover at all and women drive etc etc
c. people are more friendly. Often i get picked up and driven places by strangers at no cost
d. the weather is preferable though this obviously is a personal opinion
e.Its easier to get a family apartment as a single person here. (why get such things?) in case you want to have females over at your place, it raises no suspicions.
f.less stress driving
g. same conveniences as riyadh including embassies
h. women don't have to wear black
I. women can mix with men in public places
J. More international (lots of illegals stay over after hajj)
