i just got a part-time job at a training center and my boss told me that at some point, i'm going to have to teach audio/visual english classes. this means using a movie or tv show in class as a teaching aide.

the only problem is i don't think i have anything in my personal collection that would be appropriate for this purpose. so my question is, for those of you who have taught classes like this in the past, what are some good examples of movies or tv shows that you've used for this kind of class?

Their English level would be nice to know. For high school aged students I used How the Grinch Stole Christmas (it was around Xmas time) and they absolutely LOVED it. Granted there are crazy words in there, but it's good to show how versatile English is and how much freedom you have, plus you can use it for having them identify what the words are since there is a picture for association.

I've also used Man vs Food for University classes since Adam Richman has good use of slang, expressions, idioms etc and it gets to showcase fatty American food and culture. It went over pretty well too, gave students a lot of fun new vocab.

Last semester I used products from EBTS (English-Behind-the-Scenes) to show movies. EBTS products are prepared syllabuses (syllabi?) using popular movies. Students watch a few minutes, then do the exercises based on what they saw. See http://english-behind-the-scenes.com/site2/index.php . I showed "Home Alone" and "Family Man".
