Ask for the cell phone number and email address of a person from the US/Canada/Britain/New Zealand, etc. who's worked at that school before. Then follow up.
That's what I did for my first school, and it worked splendidly.
That's your safest bet. |

I work for them in Shanghai. So far (since I started in Sept) they've been excellent and totally above board. The three other teachers here are all long-term, having worked for them either here or in other cities for several contracts (I think they're all at least on their third year). They have programs all over China, joint ventures between Chinese and Australian unis. I guess the atmosphere might vary from place to place but the organization itself seems pretty sane and solid. I'm legally employed and well-paid. I'm happy with them. |

Thanks for the info. From what I've researched Yucui appeared legit, so I'm glad to hear this. |

Worked for them in Chengdu. The conditions surely vary according to the location, but you will get materials, stated course aims and objectives, great support for the Shanghai end (where the central management resides), good payment and little hassle. Recommended. |

I'm still in limbo waiting. My question is to those of you who applied from outside China. How long did it take for the company to send you the documents needed to apply for the visa after you signed the contract and send them all the necessary documents (copy of your passport, photos etc.) |

I initially came over as a last minute mid semester hire for a different university and entered on a tourist visa which was immediately changed over to the work visa/residence permit (some schools have this ability, others don't). Since then, I've only done my visa renewals from within China. Sorry I can't help you there. |

When we get to the end of our contract - How are the visa renewals done from within China?? |

See if you make it through the contract first?
Seriously - no idea - but I'm sure it has to be a lot easier extending / renewing a visa than applying for a new one! |

When i finished my first contract and went to a different school within Shanghai, the first school had to give my 2nd school proof that I'd finished the contract. The second school took over from there. It was pretty painless. Now that I've renewed for a 2nd year with Yucui, they just did everything for me and I just had to go to the PSB to hand in the forms and pick up the visa. Very easy. |
