As some of you may know, from reading my other posts, Im currently waiting for my work visa to be completed. Im already in Indonesia and the school that wants to hire me started processing the work visa back at the beginning of July. Today I received word from the agent that is handling my work visa that it appears my work visa wont be ready until the end of October. This is a frustrating situation because the deadline keeps getting pushed back.
My previous employer here, in Samarinda, took about 3 months to process my work visa back in 2004, so I thought this was the norm. Now I am being told by other that the processing time takes 3-5 weeks. Is this true? I know that there have been new additions to the application process that may slow the time down a bit (like providing a medical letter), but is the current, average wait time still the same 3-5 weeks regardless?
I also wanted to ask; should my employer reimburse the cost of me having to travel outside of Indonesia to get new visas, while the work visa is being processed?
I also wanted to know if any of you know of a reliable, competent agent, who can process work visas in a reasonable time?
Any info on this would be helpful!
Oh yeah, I am a Canadian citizen so there should be no restriction problems. |

I've never had to wait longer than a month for a kitas. If you are incurring costs for flights or anything else because your employer hasn't sorted your visa, I would expect them to pay for all of your costs.
I wouldn't blame your agent for things taking to long, I would blame your school for not paying/hiring an agent who can sort things out for you. |
