I scored:
- 4 cards
- one letter
- was sang a song (ok it was to the entire staff, not just to me)
- 2 boxes of Vietnamese coffee (Viet powdered cappucino - gonna be a new experience)
- three boxes of apple chips
- a drawing of me (wearing bright pink slacks)
and
da. dada Daaaaaa ~
a large bottle of Glenfiddich Scotch.
Kinda hard to thank a nine year-old for that one
but hey, gift horse etc. ~
Anyone top that? |

Mine was just so-so - - several cards, bought or hand made (the bought ones had the typical spelling errors: Happy Teacher 'sday). Got some flowers, a cute half coffee mug (said something like: "I spent so much money on this holiday, I could only afford half of a coffee mug! Santa Cruz, California"), moon cake gift certificates (ugh!). But the sentiments were nice and the kids enjoy seeing me getting so delighted with their gifts.
I must say (without trying to sound too snobbish(?) greedy(?) ungrateful(?) ), my first couple years here, I was receiving pretty lavish gifts. I guess the parents realized they couldn't buy me off or something, so now kind of mundane gifts! |

I'm not even there yet I missed out. But at the same time I don't miss the pointless dinner the school provides where they try to play the game of "how drunk can we get the laowai before his afternoon classes begin." |

A card, a rose, and a bag of assorted fruit. In addition, several text messages and e-mails from students in classes from previous terms. I think that was the most gratifying. |

I haven't started back yet this semester but got a phone call to go to the office to collect some very nice flowers and a card. |

Still on summer holiday, so no gifts for me. I'll consider the two month holiday a nice enough gesture |

New City..New school.
New set of students. So complete strangers..
A tiny card and a tiny cactus plant.
Nothing to brag about. I will file the card and the cactus can stay as I will someday leave. |

I got a rock.
OK, I received a nice card, but I've only been here 10 days. I didn't know it was teacher's day until I got the card. LOL

I got the day off, my schedule gives me every other Friday off. So perhaps there is loads of stuff waiting for me Monday morning but more likely nothing. |

Had a nice banquet but most of the people had to work the next day so there wasn't much drinking and the vibe was rather lame. I also got a new black laptop bag from one of my bosses. |
