Can someone fill me in on monthly cost for a one bedroom apartment in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Which city is the best to live in taking into consideration only rental costs. I am interested in a furnished apartment that is suited for a daily commute along Sheikh Zayed Road. Any advice? Feel free to pm. Doesn't have to be extravagant. Just cozy. Thank you in advance.

No, not really.

The problem is that the housing market is in quite a bit of flux due to the economic meltdown and the "recovery."

Add into that the different areas, their costs of living it is almost impossible to answer your question effectively or accurately.

I would suggest you look for housing at
www.dubizzle.com
and then do searches through Gulf Today, Gulf News, the National and Khaleej Times (all of which are available online.)

Costs vary, but furnished on-island in Abu Dhabi are still pricey. If you go for Abu Dhabi, live off island as the commute will be easier and prices (though unfurnished) are much lower. Some fodder for your research:
