Hello:

So, I am curious should I bring my wireless router with me, or will they have a different system that I will have to setup to have wireless connection on our PC and laptop?

Also, connectors to change the voltage on my electronic items is it best to buy them there or purchase them here in the US Question

Thanks Cool !

You buy a monthly connection to Mobily. Unlimited downloads are 350SR a month, but a 5GB 200SR contract does fine if you're not torrenting or downloading movies.

The answer is "yes", bulgogiboy,
the dailymotion.com website is available in the K.S.A..

Regarding the connectivity options, Mobily has a main competitor in Zain.

The link for Mobily is:-
http://www.mobily.com.sa/wps/portal# and then click on
the 'Mobily connect' tab.

And the link for Zain is:-
http://www.sa.zain.com/autoforms/portal/home/broadband

The outcome of your selection decision may be determined by your location within the Kingdom,
as these two main providers' system performance levels vary from one area to another.

You forgot to mention the original provider and the one with the most coverage: STC

Yes, trapezius, you're point is a valid one...in fact, I was just about to edit my original draft to include the link below...

http://www.stc.com.sa/cws/portal/en/individual/ind-internet
is worth looking at, too.

Scot47 referred to the Jawal package earlier in the thread.

However, most of my teaching colleagues - rightly or wrongly-
have opted for Mobily or Zain to provide them
with their dongles this year.

I used Orbit Satellite Internet in Jubail. Straight from the Sky straight to my Eye. It's not blocked or censored and I got the cheap package so I got about 400mb a day download. The only problem is I had to buy the TV package as well and the whole thing ended up costing about 700SR a month. I was happy with the service.

".... Saudi Arabian incumbent STC is the largest telecoms company in the Middle East when measured by either revenue or by market capitalisation.
It has been joined in the Saudi Arabian mobile market by
the second and third largest Middle Eastern regional players - Etisalat of the UAE and Zain of Kuwait.

Etisalat has considerably more than a toehold in the market. It won the second GSM/3G mobile licence and, operating as Mobily,
now has over one-third of the GSM market and three-quarters of the 3G market. It has also bought Bayanat Al Oula,
a major ISP/data comms licence holder, and has invested in considerable fibre and WiMAX infrastructure.

Zain won the third GSM/3G licence in 2007 and launched operations in August 2008. It paid a huge US$6.1 billion fee,
almost twice the price paid by Etisalat for the second mobile licence (US$3.45 billion) in 2004. At the time it was the world's highest licence fee on a per capita basis, at US$226 per Saudi inhabitant."

The above was extracted from a market research report published
in June 2010 by BuddeComm, and available for viewing at:-

What types of internet services are available in Riyadh in terms of speed? Right now I get about 19.95 mbps download and 0.95 upload with a bandwidth cap of 75GB per month. Am I right in assuming there will be nothing close to that available?

I will probably be streaming/downloading a lot of video, so what are my options in terms of providers?

I use Mobily's mobile HSPA+ internet.

It's claimed up to 20MB D/L speeds, but I get about 6MB on average, I think.
