| I just flew in on a one-way ticket on Korean, but it was a 3 month multi-entry business visa. The airlines did ask me on the phone what country passport I had and what sort of visa. They do check, but I guess I had the magic visa type. |

I started this post, and was freaking out because the lady at Korean air told me that I couldn't fly without an onward ticket. Well I did fly here almost a month ago and all they asked to see was my visa. I showed them and I hopped on board. I even had the 'visa on arrival' kind, just an approval letter.
So I suppose it was just ignorance of the companies policies on her part. Sorry if I scared anybody, Korean air is ok after all. |

I have a friend who recently flew from Australia to Saudi Arabia on Etihad. The university there had screwed up his visa paperwork, so the airlines had to ship him back out of Saudi. The airlines have some responsibility for your visa status when you travel. Korean and other airlines have a right to be sensitive to visa issues- they can be fined and held responsible for you if you prove to have a visa problem.
As I think I said earlier, I once had a hell of a time getting out of Vietnam back into Korea, even though I was a legal Korean resident at the time, because I wanted to travel back to Korea on a one way ticket. It is an issue we all need to be aware of.
By the way, after 24 hours of travel yesterday and the day before on Korean Air, I am in a position to say that they are way better than okay! The are still among the best. |

When I called an airline rep at the 800 number they said the same thing.
I do not know. Plain and simple. A rep insisted I needed an onward ticket.
When I checked, no one asked. |
