Just a few questions if you don't mind:
*With a bachelors degree, TEFL certificate and about 20 months teaching experience, what salary can I expect? I don't want to work for a language school. I am a 25 YO male. I'm guessing ~ 60k . . .
*I know this question gets asked a lot, but what is the best way of finding work if must secure a job prior to moving out? I don't have the $ to risk moving over without a job like I did here in Thailand
*What is the rule with the 20% tax again? I know if you start before a certain date that you can get more back (or something like that)
*I've heard it's possible to find a decent used car for a reasonable price... is this true?
Take care guys |

Check out Craigslist for Taiwan, and see what you'll find. Good Luck. |

There are plenty of posts that answer the bulk of your questions. Did you at least do some reading first before making your post? |

95% of all jobs at your level of qualification are in language school.
60,000 is possible working in a language school with a couple of privates.
Easiest way to get work in advance is to apply to chain schools. I worked for Kojen and they were ok to work for, but of course, they are a language school.
*What is the rule with the 20% tax again?
Why the need for someone to repeat what you've already read? Yes, something like that. Do a search. Here's one http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=83356&highlight=tax+183 .
No idea about cars, only to say that the only teacher I ever met with a car was a South African family with three kids. For them I could see the advantage. For most other people I think it would be an enormous pain in the arse (no parking) and an unnecessary expense. |

Thanks a lot Mark, really appreciate it.
What is the deal with 95% of jobs being at language schools? Are the requirements to work at public and private schools really high? I'm confused by this as I figured it would be easy to find one of these jobs...
Thanks again |

In order to work for most public or private schools here you either have to be a licensed teacher in your own country or have permanent residence status on your own. One site to keep up on job openings here is Tealit.com |
