Hi all.

I have recently been offered and accepted a post at DCC. I have a few questions and would really appreciate it if anybody would be kind enough to help me out with a few answers.

1. What style of dress is expected of faculty wives on campus?off campus?
2. Are families likely to be housed on the KFUPM campus?
3. Will my wife be allowed to drive on campus?
4. Can we go to the KFUPM beach as a family? What kind of swimsuits should we bring?
5.Is there a creche?

All answers will be welcomed , even those which are flippant and facetious as long as they are genuinely funny.

Hi all.

I have recently been offered and accepted a post at DCC. I have a few questions and would really appreciate it if anybody would be kind enough to help me out with a few answers.

1. What style of dress is expected of faculty wives on campus?off campus?
On campus, usually consrvative no need for abaya when with the girls in class or in the all female sections of the campus. Off campus, wear an abaya. For men on campus, dress shirt, pants, tie. Off campus, shorts (bermuda, the shortest recomended style), T-shirt, but be sensitive about what you advertise on it. My Ataturk T-shirt for example would not go over well in Saudi as well as in Turkey now after the blasted referendum. At home, ..............
2. Are families likely to be housed on the KFUPM campus?
?
3. Will my wife be allowed to drive on campus?
Yes. Motorcycles only
4. Can we go to the KFUPM beach as a family? What kind of swimsuits should we bring?
Men can wear boxer type swimsuits that are almost knee length. Women can wear either the special islamic bathing suits or one piece swimsuits. The latter depends on how secure the beach is.
5.Is there a creche?
?

All answers will be welcomed , even those which are flippant and facetious as long as they are genuinely funny.

That's all I have to offer. Hopefully someone else will be able to expand on this.

Regards.

It would be better to clarify these points with your employer. He after all is the one who decides where you will be housed.

Some DCC teachers are housed at KFUPM Main Campus. Women can drive IN SOME AREAS of the main campus. You can, I think, use KFUPM beach. A long way out of town and you will need a car for this.

You should really direct your questions in the first instance to DCC

i am not in Dammam. I will be in Saudi in the next couple of weeks but not at DCC. I was only answering the general info questions we all know. I mean expats that have been there (Saudi) before. We are a teaching couple too and have some knowledge in the areas that I've replied to.

Regards.

Long thobe short beard
