They're slightly more relaxed about what it is exactly you do. I just had to write a letter confirming I still do the things I do to get my blockbuster err... inmigrante card and that was it. I didn't have to prove taxes were being paid or anything. The guy at migra also told me they had opened things up, the downside being that it made it easier for South Americans to stay in Mexico - according to him Europeans and North Americans are more trustworthy.

Funny...my girlfriend processed her FM3 renewal several days after me and it's now done. She did it through the school lawyer, perhaps making all the difference.

Understandable.

Good to see that there are at least two cynics about! Very Happy I hate that assumption that just because someone is paid to do a job, they know what they are talking about. Very dangerous.

I think it does make a difference, lawyers that do a lot of immigration work develop relationships with the people there and are probably given preferential treatment if they are well liked. On the other hand, I have accompanied several people to translate for them when getting their FM2 or 3 and have always found the people are immigration to be very patient and helpful when explaining just what documents are needed, size of photos, etc.

Surprisingly, the FM2-FM3 desk here in DF is right after you go through security in the international part of the airport, and had a big sign by it last time I was in the airport. I cant remember if it was terminal 1 or 2, whichever one it is that Aeromexico flies out of. I dont know, or dont remember seeing it in the other terminal, its been a while since I flew out of there, and I also dont have an Fm2 or 3, so wasnt specifically looking for it.

Be careful and ask in Teminal 1; it depends where you enter. If it's right at the far end of the International area, yes, it's just inside. However, recently flying to Madrid, we entered further down the airport and had a circuitous route to get to the same place, asking twice. Apparently, due to a confusion on the signage for the gates, we were told it doesn't really matter where you enter!

As for T2, I guess there must be one somewhere, as Aeromexico from Madrid arrives there, so presumably leaves from there.

How do I know?

Yes, we had tickets with Mexicana....

Left on Iberia (T1), came back on Aeromexico (T2)...

But that's another story... Crying or Very sad

Hey MotherF,

Excellent, that's exactly the information that I needed. Thanks!

Do I get the letter saying that my employment terms remain the same from my employer (the university) or is it something I can just put in writing myself?

Basil, sorry I missed this as the thread took another turn. Here is the official requirements:
