Hi all I was wondering what the ESL job market is like in Panama? Is there anyone currently working out there that could recommend any schools to approach?
Many thanks |

Panama has a highly-restrictive visa policy for foreigners. Unless you hold Panamanian citizenship and/or are a blood relative of a rich and powerful member of the moneyed/political classes, don't even think about it.
The immigration reform of 2008 made working without a permit a deportable offense, which includes a $1,000 USD fine, up to one year in prison awaiting extradition (nothing moves quickly, I might add) and banishment from the country for a minimum of fifteen years.
The only foreigners I know working here are guests of a powerful corporation, have diplomatic status (i.e. Peace Corps) or are romantically involved with a local and are protected by their family connection.
Costa Rican outfits advertise here regularly, however.
(edit: spelling error)

Thanks for the advice. I'll cross it off the list! |
