I have a friend of mine here in Indonesia, who is visiting on a visitors visa (VOA). He got the one extention and now his VOA is expiring on the 6
th of October. The problem is that his flight out of Indonesia is one day later, on the 7th. He asked me what may happen and I am not too sure. What I do know is that there is a penalty of Rp200,000 per day spent after the VOA expires. I was wondering if anyone could shed light on this. Is he going to have to pay this at the airport and then be on his merry way? I know that if one stays 30 days afte expiry, there is a Rp30,000,000 fine, possible jail time, deportation and blacklisted for a year. Will the same happen for someone who has just stayed one day past expiry?

For an overstay of one or two days just be apologetic, pay the fine and allow a little extra time for the inevitable form to sign. Not a big problem.
