"If you should ever go across the sea to Ireland,

He is from one of the 32 counties. I have forgotten which one. |

County Rockall...it's the 33rd county of Ireland!
But yes, I am from the land of saints & scholars...um, well, yeah, OK...you know what I mean: that bankrupted, little isle which deluded itself for a few years that it was a rich country. That was before they finally realized that if everyone is a house owner, and wants to buy a second property, the buy-to-rent real-estate market is maybe not so real after all.
Their government has managed to make Romania look like a neo-Swedish nirvana. by comparison. That, believe me, is some achievement in itself |

Well this link will not only contest the scandalous claims of the Republic of Ireland, Iceland and Greenland but also of Denmark (I ask You!?) to the sacred and hallowed Island of Rockall.

Finally Scot I got a plain answer to the innocent query I posed in my original post, thanks

If you want time - for reading, for reflection, for developing your interests - there is time to do it here. Those so inclined can spend their days watching Satellite TV. I have colleagues who do just that. Non-stop Medical Dramas on BBC Entertainment and Football on whatever channel it is they watch.

Why do you choose to criticise those who choose to spend time in KSA ?
|
This one had me gobsmacked. No criticism of anyone was implied or should be inferred from what I wrote. Simply to use the word 'restrictive' is not to imply that anyone's choice is wrong or that anyone is foolish in their choice. On many of the boards people are asked why they like say, Korea or Taiwan.

Perhaps you had problems in hacking it ? Health issues ?
|
Ah, perhaps your attitude comes from reading the occasional post I've made here in the past. Yes, I did have health issues but I also had them in other countries but again no reason to infer criticism of others.

| I will make a deal - you stay in Taiwan - which I loathe and detest - and I will stay in Saudi Arabia until I choose to retire. Pluralism is clearly a concept that you have not got your head around. |
Having lived and worked in several countries I don't think I have a problem with pluralism. I was going to leave it at that but you've piqued my interest. 'Loathe and detest'? Why? |

Sorry, that's all Japanese Real Estate code:
L = Living Room
D = Dining Room
K = Kitchen
And, the numbers refer to bedroom(s)...

I'd forgotten all that--haven't been to Japan since 1992. My apt. had 2 bdrms, typical inadequate kitchen and a really dumb bathroom. I furnished the larger bdrm as a living room and never used it, since the rooms were all compartmentalized. The typical Japanese rabbit hutch. It was OK for a bachelor. |

Hai!! Like Samurai Jah-panesu businessamahn.
Pros: beautiful young women a youngish bachelor can meet anywhere, anytime and....well, as they say at Starbucks, "Enjoy!"
Cons: 1.The young beauties just want to sample you, not love you. 2.Rabbit-hutch housing. 3. Racist, supercilious, arrogant society. Only Korea is worse. 4. Obsessive-compulsive RULES and CONFORMITY culture. |

Dear SHeik,
And we, of course, are all Pros - though some of us may have been Cons in the past.
Regards,
